Poor hygiene is the root of many hair problems. Poor hygiene can mean both not washing enough and washing too much. The chemicals and the detergents present in the shampoo makes the hair dry and lifeless as natural oils produced by the sebaceous glands on the scalp is stripped away. You must shampoo every other day and apply conditioner twice a week. If it is still necessary to shampoo everyday, then you must apply baby shampoo. On the other hand the people who does not shampoo there hair, allow the oil secretion build up in there hair and hence giving them a greasy appearance. It creates an environment for the growth of dandruff. Dandruff can lead to the growth of bacteria and fungus.
Sunlight can also cause sunburn to the hair as easily as the skin. In summer season heat combined with humidity makes the hair dry and further making it subject to breaking. You must avoid blow driers and curling irons in summer.
Sometimes hair products can also lead to hair damage. Hair gels and sprays contain alcohol which leads to drying up the scalp. Many hair products contain perfumes which can often lead to allergy.
